Accessories for Older AiM SmartyCam, HD, & GP Cameras

The AiM SmartyCam has undergone several changes since its introduction in 2009.

The original SmartyCam (2009-13) had a unique semi-aerodynamic design. It is easily identified by the long case shape, viewing screen on the top of the camera, and silver-grey body with rubberized armor. This generation had a 7-pin socket for CAN connection and a built-in GPS receiver.
The first-generation SmartyCam HD (2013-15) was shaped like a rectangular box, with the viewing screen on the front of the camera. This generation had a 5-pin socket for CAN connection, plus a 4-pin socket for an external GPS receiver (GPS05B or GPS08B).
The SmartyCam HD Rev 2.1 (2015+) had the same shape as the previous generation, but the lens is larger (with "Rev 2.1" on it) and the view screen has a protective glass over it, held on with exposed screws. This generation had a 7-pin socket for CAN connection, plus a 4-pin socket for an external GPS receiver (GPS05B or GPS08B).
The first-generation SmartyCam HD GP (2013-15) had a base recording unit and a separate bullet camera. The bullet camera was connected to a 5-pin socket. This generation had a 5-pin socket for CAN connection, plus a 4-pin socket for an external GPS receiver (GPS05B or GPS08B).
The SmartyCam HD GP Rev 2.1 (2015-18) looked similar to the previous generation SmartyCam HD GP. This generation had a 7-pin socket for CAN connection, plus a 4-pin socket for an external GPS receiver (GPS05B / GPS08B / GPS09B).
The SmartyCam HD GP 2.2 (2019+) is slightly larger than the previous generations. The cable connecting the camera to the base unit uses a "SMA" connector. This generation has a 5-pin socket for CAN connection, a 5-pin socket for an external GPS receiver (GPS09, same as AiM dashes use), plus a 7-pin socket for direct connection to an ECU.

Note that some of the accessories below are also used by the current generation of SmartyCam cameras.
