We still have some hard-to-find drive cables, tach drives, and adapters for several different mechanical tachometer brands and drive configurations.
Jones mechanical tachometers are not direction-sensitive. The tach will function whether the cable rotates clockwise or counterclockwise.
Stewart-Warner tachometers are direction-sensitive. You must use a drive that will turn the cable in the correct direction.

These tachometer cables have Smith's distributor inputs and Smith's tachometer outputs. The Smith's inputs and outputs use a special thread which is about 1/2 inch diameter.

This Drive Dog fits the Smith's input end of our mechanical tachometer cables. These tend to go missing when the cable is disconnected from the drive gearbox, so a spare is cheap insurance.

These Jones tachometer cables have Smith's distributor inputs which use a special 1/2" thread. Jones tachometers use a heavy-duty SAE drive with a 7/8-18 thread.
