Brand: Advanced Racing Technologies (ART)

ART Laser String is an extremely versatile tool. It shoots a plane (not a beam) along the side of the car. By the time it reaches the other end of the car it is several feet tall. Unique self-aligning feature allows one person to check rear axle alignment, toe, and track offset. You can also use it to align graphics, setup scales, or any other application requiring an accurate reference line.

Comments about ART Laser String (Single):

This is my second Laser String. My first Laser String, purchased direct from A.R.T. several years ago, had a body of machined aluminum plate with ball bearings. The quality was amazing and warranted the high price.
This one is a disappointment. The laser head itself is still aluminum, but the body is simply two pieces of soft plastic which rub on each other. No aluminum and no ball bearings. Although packed well, one of the plastic plates came with a large gouge in it which I can only assume was put there by careless handling at the merchant. If there was a large cost savings I might understand, but the new cheaply-built one cost almost as much as my older high quality one. I can't see the plastic one holding up to the rigors of the race track as well as the all-aluminum one. The plastic is clearly not rugged, and in addition any dust or dirt which gets between the plastic plates will keep them from sliding freely leading to inaccurate readings.
The photo on the Pegasus website appears to be of the older aluminum plate design.
