If your fuel-injected car stumbles under heavy g-loads due to fuel starvation from fuel sloshing away from the pickup, you can fix it by adding a surge tank or swirl pot. The obp Motorsport FST series of fuel surge tanks are easy to install in any fuel system, without requiring any modification to your fuel tank or cell.
This FST tank and pump set submerges a high-pressure fuel pump inside a tall, narrow column of fuel. When fuel sloshes away from the fuel pickup in your tank, the FST pump will continue to feed the high-pressure pump from its reservoir. You can even use your stock in-tank pump to feed the FST!
This set consists of a 2.6-liter capacity tank (125mm OD x 254mm High) FST tank with an obp Motorsport "044-style" 200LPH turbine-type fuel pump mounted, plumbed, and wired to a special top plate that fits right into the tank Five -6 size (9/16-18) female O-ring boss ports in the top plate let you connect lines for inlet, outlet, and return to tank (note that one port is provided for a second pump and must be plugged). Positive and negative electrical terminals are both #8 SAE size studs to accept standard ring terminals (sold separately). The pump draws 13.2 amps and delivers 200 liters of fuel per hour at 5 bar pressure (53 gallons per hour at 72 psi). Includes a sock filter. The fuel pump cluster displaces approximately 0.3 liter (0.08 gallon, or about 10 ounces) of fuel for a net tank capacity of about 2.3 liters (0.6 gallon). Weighs 2535g (5.5 lb).
