This unique setup has the pump incorporated into a special front timing chain cover and driven directly from the front of the cam. This eliminates the horespower-robbing friction caused by driving the pump through a scroll gear (as with the side mounted pump). The front mounting can also allow narrower chassis layouts. Projects only 3 1/2" more than the standard timing chain cover. Not compatible with Lotus Twin Cam engines.
The scavenge rotor is 1 inch wide and has a 3/4 inch diameter scavenge inlet pipe (included). The scavenge outlet (bottom) and pressure inlet (top left) ports are threaded 1/2 BSP. The pressure outlet (right) port is threaded 3/8 BSP. BSP to AN adapters (shown) are sold separately. Requires modification to the camshaft drive sprocket.
When using the front-mounted pump with a mechanical tachometer, the tach drive can be driven from the original oil pump location using our Side Tach Drive Mount (Part No. 166-22).
