If your Tilton clutch develops problems disengaging, check the wear buttons! These hardened steel buttons stop the pressure plate and floater plates from digging into the legs of the aluminum clutch cover. Over time, the pressure and floater plates can wear a groove in these buttons, eventually preventing the plates from moving freely when the clutch is disengaged.
