The AiM EGT Thermocouple that we normally stock (Part No. MC-003) is held in place in the exhaust pipe by means of a 5mm weld-on nut. For those who prefer a weld-in bung, we offer this 3/16" diameter "open-tip" style thermocouple. This thermocouple has a standard yellow flat 2-pin "K-Type" connector. A female threaded compression nut screws down onto the male weld bung. A worm-drive band clamp is also provided for a no-weld installation.
Weld-In Installation: Weld the steel male fitting (black) to the pipe with the threads pointing out. Slip the female nut (silver) and the olive (small brass piece) over the probe. Screw the female nut onto the male bung. The larger threaded brass piece and the hose clamp are not used.
No-Weld Installation: Insert the compression fitting (threaded brass piece) through the band clamp with the threads sticking outwards. Slip the female nut (silver) and the olive (small brass piece) over the probe. Screw the female nut onto the compression fitting, sandwiching the clamp between. Install the hose clamp over the exhaust pipe. The steel weld fitting (black piece with male threads) is not used.
If you already have a female NPT bung in your exhaust pipe, you can add the Auto Meter 1/8 NPT Compression Fitting Kit (Part No. AM5255, sold separately) to install male NPT threads on this probe.
Includes the Male Weld-In Bung for Open-Tip EGT Probe (Part No. MC-218), which is also available separately.
