SFI-Approved Novec 1230 Fire Suppression Systems

3M™ Novec™ 1230 (FK‑5‑1‑12) is the latest "green" replacement for ozone-depleting Halon as a fire suppression agent. It is stored as a liquid under pressure that releases as a gas, which means zero cleanup afterwards. It works by removing heat from the fire, rather than by smothering. Novec is non-conductive, non-corrosive, alcohol-resistant, and ozone-friendly. Unlike Halon (and many of its replacements), Novec is essentially non-toxic, which makes it ideal for use in confined spaces.
