Brand: Beta Tools
The Beta Tools 430ASW Series hand taps let you tap holes with Whitworth (BSW / British Standard Whitworth) threads. Whitworth threads were rarely used outside the UK, but their 55° thread angle and radiused thread root is stronger than the similar (but incompatible) SAE UNC thread. The chromium steel construction is designed for use with hand tools (not for use on threading machines).
This size cuts 5/8 x 11 TPI threads (5/8 BSW). The square drive end measures 9mm (33/64") on each side. Overall length L measures 80mm (3.15"). Thread length L1 measures 38mm (1.5"). Use this tap in a 13.5mm hole. Sold individually.
Note: This British thread is not the same as any SAE thread. SAE UNC threads have a different thread angle and a shallower, squared-off thread root. Only use this tap when you intend to install a BSW threaded fastener.
