If you are only working with circlips on occasion and you don't want to invest in a set of snap ring pliers, the 1039 circlip pliers from Beta Tools can get you out of a jam. The convertible design lets you use them on internal snap rings from 10mm - 15mm (3/8" - 5/8") or on external snap rings from 6mm - 25mm (1/4" - 1"). Just loosen the pivot screw and slide the jaws to the second pivot hole to switch from squeezing to spreading.

The straight tips fit into 1mm holes in the snap ring ends (A1). Measures 150mm long overall (L). Pivot measures 30mm at the widest spot (A). Jaws measure 5.2mm thick (S1); thickness including pivot screw is 14mm (S). Weighs 75g. (A1 = 0.039", L = 5.9", A = 1.18", S1 = 0.20", S = 0.55", weighs 2.6 oz.) Black oxide finish with Beta Orange PVC covering on the handles. Sold individually.

Note: The 1039 convertible pliers do not have the same heavy, forged jaws that Beta Tools 1032 through 1038 Series pliers do. They are still considerably stronger than the cheap imports you might find in the bargain bin!
