The 1440 Series band-type spring compressors from Beta Tools are designed with a wide range of adjustment. This allows one tool to cover multiple bore sizes, so you don't have to duplicate your tool investment every time you build a new engine.
To use, apply a thin film of clean motor oil to the inside of the band and slip it over your assembled piston. Turn the L-handle to tighten the band and compress the piston rings. The ratcheting mechanism will hold tension in the band. Place the compressor tightly against the opening of the cylinder bore and slide the piston into the cylinder. Once the piston is installed, release the compressor by slowly unwinding the handle while holding down the orange ratchet release button.
This 1440/1A compressor is suitable for most gasoline and diesel automobile engines. It adjusts to fit bore sizes of 57mm to 125mm (2.245" to 4.921"). The extended 100mm (3 15/16") length is taller than most other compressors to cover a wide range of piston designs.
This size can be used on Ford 1.6L "Kent" FF1600 and 2.0L SOHC Pinto engines.
