Mazda designed the MX-5 Miata as a light, nimble roadster -- not as a pavement-shredding road-racing monster. While most of the MX-5's systems are engineered with a good safety margin, some weaknesses show up as the cars get more and more heavily modified. The front hub is a good example. The OEM hubs are more than adequate for spirited street driving, but wide, sticky tires and increased cornering force call for stronger hubs than stock.
This hub kit from Wilwood is designed specifically to handle the higher cornering forces of a modified road racing Miata. Drawing on decades of experience, Wilwood engineers began with their proven ProHub and adapted it to the 1990 through 2005 (NA and NB) Miata. The forged aluminum front hubs are stronger than most steel aftermarket replacements. The original sealed 2-row bearing is replaced by more widely-spaced tapered roller bearings for increased load capacity and hub support. This also makes the bearings user-serviceable instead of just disposable. The innovative spindle nut and washer get locked together with two bolts (no messing around with split pins) in a design that provides nearly infinite preload adjustment.
Complete kit includes two front hubs, each complete with inner and outer seals, grease cap, bearings, spindle nut, washer, lock bolts, and wheel studs. One kit is enough for one car. The only thing you need to supply (besides the rest of the NA or NB Miata) is bearing grease, Loctite Blue threadlocker, and a single M6x1.0 bolt (to remove the grease cap from the hub).
