This special kit from Setrab has been assembled specifically for the Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S/Toyota 86 platform. The stock filter configuration does not work well with a standard sandwich plate, so Setrab has paired a sandwich plate with a sandwich spacer to provide easier access to the fittings.
The sandwich plate has M22 female ports to accept any Setrab M22 O-Ring Port Adapter Fittings (sold separately). This polished billet aluminum plate has a 20x1.5mm filter thread and a 2 1/2 inch O-ring diameter. The built-in thermostat allows cold oil to bypass your oil cooler while still being directed through the filter. When the oil temperature reaches 180°F / 82°C (+/- 10°F or +/- 3°C), the thermostat closes to force all of the oil to go through the cooler. A 1/8 NPT female port on the back side of the plate (plugged from the factory) provides a convenient spot for an electric temp gauge sender (not included).
The included aluminum spacer installs between the sandwich plate and the engine to move the ports 1 1/4" farther away from the block. It has a similar 20x1.5mm sleeve nut to the sandwich plate so you can stack them together.
