Brand: Holley Performance Products
This fuel level sender from Holley uses cutting-edge technology to eliminate all moving parts! Instead of a float, the sender uses LiDAR to "see" the fuel level.
The sender is compatible with most brands of programmable fuel gauges, and instructions are available for use with Classic Instruments and Auto Meter gauges (note that the PWM output signal is not compatible with OEM-type gauges which require an Ohm-only signal). You can program the unit to work with fuel tanks between 4 and 39 inches deep. You can even set it up on the workbench by pointing it at the wall!
LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) technology is currently used in industries from manufacturing (3D-scanning prototype parts) to weather forecasting. It is similar to radar, but it uses eye-safe laser light instead of radio waves. The sender measures the time it takes for the laser light to bounce off the surface of the fuel and compares it to the time required to bounce off the bottom of the empty tank. It takes multiple measurements every second and averages them to reduce errors due to fuel slosh.
The sender mounts via a standard 5-bolt flange (2 1/8" bolt circle). Includes mounting hardware and gasket. Fuel gauge not included.
Note 1: Auto Meter full-sweep / programmable fuel gauges require the addition of a 680 Ohm resistor (not included).
Note 2: The sender must be positioned with a clear line of sight to the bottom of the tank. Aiming the sender at baffles, surge tanks, or fuel cell foam will cause false readings.
