Many engine builders prefer to use platinum-tipped spark plugs in the Ford 2.0L SOHC Pinto engine. Unfortunately, most plug manufacturers only offer a standard plug for that application.
This plug solves the dilemma. The 12mm thread is small enough that it can be adapted to the larger 18mm threads in the Pinto head. The special Spark Plug Reducer Bushing (Part No. 178-24) that is required to adapt this sparkplug to fit the Pinto head is sold separately. 11/16" hex. Plugs are sold individually.
NGK has replaced platinum with stronger iridium for this application, allowing even more durability and lower voltage requirements than before!
