Measuring the inside diameter (ID) of a brake drum with conventional measuring tools is tricky at best. Common Vernier or dial calipers (even if they were large enough) risk hanging up on the unworn "lip" around the outer edge.

The 1650FT Series from Beta Tools is a special type of inside caliper specifically designed for measuring brake drum inner diameter. The contacts sit slightly proud of the jaws to avoid the outer lip at the edge of the friction surface, and they are pointed to minimize errors from ridges in the surface.

The scale on this size can read up to 500mm ID (A) in 0.05mm increments for accurate machining. Overall length 550mm (L), weighs 2.2g. Sold individually.
