Non-locking jam nuts are typically used to lock in adjustments where a male threaded part screws only partway into a female threaded part (rod ends, bulkhead fittings, etc).

These high-quality plated steel 5/8-18 left-hand (reversed thread) nuts do not meet the AN316-10-L standard. These nuts are thicker than the more expensive AN316-spec version, with a slightly smaller hex. Sold individually.
