These aerodynamic mirrors are built specifically to conform to FIA standards. The lens measures 150mm wide x 50mm high (6" W x 2" H) to meet the minimum requirement for mirror size for formula cars from F4 to F1. Even with a flat lens, they can give a wider field of view than the more conventional 110mm wide mirrors typically used in club racing.
The aluminum stem is angled for mounting on the vertical outer wall of a formula car cockpit. A ball joint at the base and a left-to-right pivot at the housing provide a wide range of adjustment.* Two 10-32 flat head screws are provided for mounting. The housing is paintable black nylon. The flat lens does not distort distance, but the image will be shakier than with a wide-angle convex lens.
This mirror fits the right side only. Sold individually; matching Left Hand Flat Lens FIA GP3 Mirror (Part No. 5181-001) sold separately.
* Note that both joints have a set screw which must be tightened after the mirror is adjusted. This requires access to the backside of the panel where the mirror is mounted.
