The Longacre Toe Gauge is a simple, inexpensive, yet accurate way to measure toe-in/toe-out on any racecar, from formula cars to stock cars. It's even easy for one person to use alone.
Simply scribe or mark a reference line around each tire* and zero the two pointers on the gauge with the lines on the fronts of the tires. Next, position the gauge behind the tires and line up just one pointer to the line on the tire. Loosen the other pointer and slide it along the scale until it lines up with the line on the tire. The scale on the main tube will show your exact toe-in (or toe-out) to 1/32".
The pointers slide along a rigid aluminum tube with a graduated scale for easy measurements. Maximum distance between scribed tire lines 70". The two-piece main tube allows to you knock down the gauge for compact transport if desired.
* The reference line doesn't even have to be centered on the tire, as long as it is parallel to the centerline of the tire. If you spin the tire and see only one line (as opposed to a spiral), you're set!
The Longacre Tire Scribing Tool (Part No. LA79610, sold separately) makes it easy to scribe clear and consistent lines on your tire treads!
