This compact, solid-state switching unit is designed to take the place of an entire array of circuit breakers, fuses, and relays! Five separate channels can each handle up to a 20 Amp load (max 70A total) with automatic overload protection. Power your ignition system, rain light, and fuel pump directly from the module. For heavier loads, use the module to trigger a relay or solenoid.
A single M6 input stud accepts battery positive voltage from 8 to 18 volts. Each channel has a pair of LEDs to indicate input and output status on each channel (on, off, or fault) for easy troubleshooting. Each circuit output can be configured with a "soft start" (to prevent overload from electic motors with a heavy initial draw), and can be set to run standard (input-controlled), flashing (1 Hz), timed (turns off automatically), or overrun (runs for several minutes after shut-off). Input triggers can be toggle switch (turn on the switch to trigger, turn off the switch to stop), "edge trigger" (momentary contact to start, momentary contact to stop), or by digital outputs from data acquisition systems or ECUs.
The PDM-5 also has a special "Car Lights Controller" configuration option. Marker lights, low beam, high beam, and turn signals are all controlled with ease. The flasher is even built in!
The base module measures just 87mm x 52mm (3 7/16" x 2") and weighs just 128g (5 oz). Draws 0.06 Amps when all circuits are turned off. Note that this will add a parasitic draw to your electrical system, but the configuration memory is non-volatile, so you can disconnect the battery for storage without having to reprogram anything. Includes a 12-pin connector kit so you can assemble your own wiring harness.
