When using a side mounted oil pump on the Ford 1600 engine, the tach is often driven from the front of the cam by mounting a tach drive gearbox on the front timing chain cover. The drawback to this method is that even a small misalignment in the tach drive gearbox will cause it to fail in a very short time. An easy way around this problem is to mount the tach drive directly on the oil pump. We carry the parts needed to convert your pump to this option. This outer cover is specially designed to mount a Tachometer Drive Gearbox (Part No. 166-20, sold separately).
Requires the Extended Oil Pump Shaft for Tach Drive (Part No. 167-11-Tach) and Oil Pump Tach Drive Seal (Part No. 167-21-Seal), sold separately.
