This 4th/5th hub (3rd/4th in 4-speed gearboxes) is installed on the pinion shaft of Hewland or Webster Mk4 or Mk6 gearboxes. Replaces Hewland part number HC4228. The lugs on the end distinguish this hub from the 4th/5th Hub for Mk 8, 9 Gearboxes (part #1410-A54-9), which has 6 splines inside. The pinion shaft of the Mk 4 and Mk 6 only have splines about 1/3 of the length of the shaft, and hubs are linked together by the lugs at the end. Mk 8 and Mk 9 have splines the length of the pinion shaft, so lugs are not needed on the hubs.
