The only way to accurately check camshaft timing is with a degree wheel. Our 7" diameter degree wheel is large enough to make each single degree mark easy to see.
The center hole is 3/4" diameter, and bushings are furnished for 7/16" and 1/2" diameter bolts. Instructions are printed right on the degree wheel so they can't get lost. Also useful for checking static ignition timing, or even the accuracy of your timing marks.
For a quick, easy, and CHEAP pointer, bend a piece of welding rod or wire hanger and bolt it to the front of your block. Grinding the end to a point will allow very accurate readings.
