This cleanable, reusable filter element is designed as a secondary inspection filter, such as on the suction side of a dry sump system. The 400 mesh pleated screen filter traps particles as small as 40 microns, so it can even be used as a primary filter in racing applications where flow is more important than filtering.* Not recommended for street use.
Tall 4 5/8" filter fits all Canton 6 Inch Remote Mount Oil Filters, including Part Nos. 1281 (Canton 25-106), 1281-002 (Canton 25-106B), and CM 25-640 (sold separately).
* Partciles measuring 40 microns (0.00158") are just barely too small to see without magnification. 320 grit sandpaper uses particles of about 36 micron diameter. Your crankshaft was probably polished using a belt with 23 micron particles.
