The Arai GP-J3 is the latest in a long line of Arai open-face helmets. Improvements over the original GP-Jet model include sculpted extension "horns" to provide enhanced protection for your jawbone without sacrificing the open feel or vintage look. The shell is hand-laminated using a complex composite layup developed for F1, with the fibers specially oriented for maximum strength with flexibility. You get the well-known Arai styling and performance, with protection that meets or exceeds Snell SA2020 and FIA 8859 standards.

The GP-J3 features peak visor with a tinted shade strip for early morning and late afternoon racing. Exhaust vents on the crown let hot air escape to keep you cool. The GP-J3 is ready for use with a head-and-neck restraint, with M6 female threaded anchor receptacles in the shell (anchors sold separately). The GP-J3 is designed for use with goggles (not included). It is not designed to take a face shield.

SA2020 is the latest Snell Foundation rating for automotive racing helmets. This helmet rating has been developed to provide the best safety protection for auto racing drivers who are restrained in their vehicles. SA2020 helmets are tested for flame retardance, and additional tests ensure compatibility with HANS® Devices. An SA-rated helmet may not meet DOT specifications for street use, such as on motorcycles.

SIZING: Helmets should fit as snug as possible without causing discomfort. Measure head circumference around the largest part of the head approximately one inch above the eyebrows and just above the ears. If a Nomex hood will be worn with the helmet, it should be worn when measuring head circumference. If a hood is not available, add about 1/4 inch to the circumference measurement for a single layer hood and 1/2 inch for a double layer hood.
