The Arai GPV-R uses the same shell design as the GPV-R helmets worn by F1 and IndyCar drivers. The shell is hand-laminated using a complex composite developed for F1, with the fibers specially oriented for maximum strength with flexibility. You get the well-known Arai styling and performance, with protection that meets or exceeds Snell SA2025 and FIA 8859-2024 standards.

The GPV-R features a taller (68mm high) eyeport than the previous GP-7 model, suitable for high-speed open wheel racing or sedan racing. The shield pivot has also been moved lower, allowing Arai designers to reshape the helmet crown for better distribution of impact energy. The standard shield now features the same positive-lock carried over from F1. Inlet vents on the chin and in the center of the forehead take in cooling air, and exhaust ports in the rear let the hot air escape. The GPV-R is FHR-ready, with M6 female threaded receptacles in the shell for your head/neck restraint device anchors (anchors sold separately). Available in gloss White. Includes one clear face shield.

The Snell Foundation SA2025 standard was developed specifically for automotive racing helmets. The "SA" (Special Application") helmet standards are written to ensure that a helmet offers the best safety protection for auto racing drivers who are restrained in their vehicles. SA2025 helmets are tested for flame retardance, and additional tests ensure that the factory-installed M6 threaded inserts can handle loads from an FHR. An SA-rated helmet may not meet DOT specifications for street use, such as on motorcycles.

SIZING: Helmets should fit as snug as possible without causing discomfort. Measure head circumference around the largest part of the head approximately one inch above the eyebrows and just above the ears. If a one or two layer Nomex hood will be worn with the helmet, it should be worn when measuring head circumference. If a hood is not available, add about 1/4 inch to the circumference measurement for a single layer hood and 1/2 inch for a double layer hood.
