The Tillett B6 is a premium auto racing seat for dual-purpose and track day cars. The carbon fiber shell is contoured to leave the shoulders free for unhindered steering, and the flat headrest makes it easier to get in and out.
Like all Tillett auto racing seats, the B6 draws on extensive experience in karting, where the seat is a working part of the suspension and must be a perfect fit to the driver. While other brands start with a rectangular shell and fill it with padding to fit the driver, the shell of the B6 is contoured to fit the driver without any excess padding. This allows more contact for better control, while also allowing the driver to sit lower than most other brands.
The B6 is already very narrow at just 44cm at the widest part of the rolled lip edge, but for the most cramped cockpits Tillett also offers an "Edges Off" option which shaves a full 4cm from the width. Note that this option makes the seat a little less forgiving when getting in and out. The rolled edge also contributes some fatigue resistance, so the "Edges On" version should be chosen if at all possible.
For an even narrower footprint, the B6 is available in a bottom-mount configuration. The standard side-mount configuration requires access to the sides of the seat and can add as much as 25mm (1") of extra width to the seat. The bottom-mount version is recommended for extremely narrow cockpits such as Lotus and Caterham 7 cars.
Five harness slots allow the use of 5- or 6-point racing harnesses. The 60° (from horizontal) seatback angle and 5° (from vertical) headrest angle are tailored for comfort when using a Model 30 HANS Device. Genuine carbon fiber shell has gloss black gelcoat on the outside and clearcoated carbon weave on the seating surface, with a synthetic suede headrest pad. Weighs just 4.5 to 5.1kg (9.9 to 11.2 lb), depending on mounting and edge options. Designed and manufactured in the UK.
