Replace your cylinder head bolts with high-strength ARP head studs for improved head gasket sealing under the most demanding racing conditions!
Cylinder head studs provide more accurate and consistent clamping force because the fastener does not twist when you apply your torque wrench. This means more reliable head gasket sealing, particularly in high-compression applications. Studs only get installed once (rather than at every rebuild), which reduces the chances of damage to the female threads in the block. Head studs also help to locate the head gasket and cylinder head, which can mean faster rebuilds or trackside servicing.
ARP cylinder head studs are made from ARP2000 alloy (stronger than 8740 chrome moly steel), heat-treated to 220,000 psi tensile strength with J-form threads that are rolled (not cut) after heat treatment (not before) for unmatched strength and precision.
This set fits later VW/Audi water-cooled 1.8T 20v 4-cylinder turbo engines (all but AEB engine code), including 2000 and later VW Beetle/Passat and 2000 and later Audi A4. Includes ten M10 cylinder head studs with special "star socket drive" nuts, and a packet of ARP assembly lube.
Note: The star-drive nuts in this kit require a special ARP Head Bolt Socket for VW 1.8T, Part No. ARP920-0002 (sold separately). This kit is intended for mechanics who already have the special socket required.
