Replace your cylinder head bolts with high-strength ARP head studs for improved head gasket sealing under the most demanding racing conditions!
Cylinder head studs provide more accurate and consistent clamping force because the fastener does not twist when you apply your torque wrench. This means more reliable head gasket sealing, particularly in high-compression applications. Studs only get installed once (rather than at every rebuild), which reduces the chances of damage to the female threads in the block. Head studs also help to locate the head gasket and cylinder head, which can mean faster rebuilds or trackside servicing.
ARP cylinder head studs are made from 8740 chrome moly steel, heat-treated to 200,000 psi tensile strength with J-form threads that are rolled (not cut) after heat treatment (not before) for unmatched strength and precision. The shorter studs in this kit have a tapered shank to compensate for the difference in stretch between them and the longer studs in the kit. This further improves head gasket sealing through more even gasket crush.
This set fits VW water-cooled 1.8L and 2.0L 16v engines, including Golf GTi, Jetta GTi / GLi, and Scirocco (engine codes DX, KR, PL, ABF, and 9A). Includes ten cylinder head studs, matching hardened washers and 12-point nuts, and a packet of ARP assembly lube.
