Threadlockers and thread sealants will not bond to certain "inactive" surfaces including aluminum, stainless steel, magnesium, zinc, black oxide, cadmium, and titanium. The use of an activatorr is required on these materials to "activate" the surface for bonding. To use, begin by cleaning off any heavy grease or dirt from the surface using your preferred degreaser. Then do a final cleaning by spraying a generous coat of Loctite SF 7649 Primer on the surface. Do not wipe off the Primer. Just allow the solvent to dry for about a minute, then apply the threadlocker, thread sealant, or retaining compound. If the part is kept clean and dry in storage, you can wait up to one month before applying the compound. Parts stored longer or which become contaminated in storage should be re-treated prior to compound application.
