Shim Kit (Basic) for Tilton Super Starters

This shim kit includes a housing shim (between the gear reduction housing and the starter nose) and a ring shim (between the starter drive and the starter nose). These can be used, if necessary, to adjust the pinion to ring gear clearance. Both shims are nominally 1/16 inch thick.* Fits all Tilton Super Starters except Chevy. A jumper wire is also included (normally used in applications with an external starter solenoid). Installation instructions are included.

* Due to manufacturing tolerances, actual thickness can vary from .056" to .063".

Note: The starter pinion to ring gear clearance must be 0.100 +/- 0.040 inch. Due to the Super Starter's high operating torque, failure to install correctly will usually result in damage to the starter or ring gear.

Tech Tip: If you need a new housing gasket, you can use the housing shim as a template to cut a new one from gasket material.
