The 4002 series Camlocs are designed to be used with a metal grommet like this one to help spread the attachment forces. The Flare-Retained design eliminates the need for counterboring thick panels. It also works to restrict axial movement of the grommet, which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your application. Flare-Retained grommets do not use a retaining ring, but you must use a special flaring tool for installation.
This Standard ("Flush Plus Mounting") Grommet has a 5/8" OD that sits out 0.046" from the face of the panel. Mounts in a 1/2" hole in panels 0.040" to 0.069" thick (e.g., 14 to 18 gauge aluminum sheet). Cadmium-plated alloy steel. Sold individually. Studs and receptacles are sold separately.
Note: This grommet adds 0.046" to the total grip length of the assembly. Be sure to add this amount to your total grip length calculation when determining the proper stud length.
