Now you can adapt your NPT port to AN, while turning a corner and ensuring that the AN fitting will be pointing in the direction you need when the fitting is tightened!
Similar in function to a one-piece AN822 elbow adapter, these blue anodized aluminum fittings have two-piece construction to allow the NPT threads to turn independently of the elbow portion. This lets you tighten the NPT threads without rotating the entire fitting. Tapered threads seal by "jamming" the threads, and you can't always predict which direction the fitting will point when it gets tight enough to seal.
The swivel nut also lets you check tightness of the NPT threads without affecting hose alignment. You also don't need to worry about the weight of the hose unscrewing the fitting in use. The male AN fitting end conforms to SAE / JIC specifications.
