The harmonic damper is required to absorb an incredible amount of kinetic energy thrown off by the spinning crankshaft. This special bolt from ARP is rated to 200,000 psi tensile strength. This provides extra clamping force to positively lock your balancer in place. The included oversized, 1/4" thick backing washer helps to spread all that force. The 12-point head is extra-tall to accept a deep socket and minimize the risk of stripping the head.
This kit is designed to fit Gen III (1997-2007) and Gen IV (2005-16) GM LS-series small block V8 engines (except Gen IV LS7). One kit is enough for one engine.
