The Tilton OT-II Single Disc Clutch is a very high-quality open style 7 1/4" diameter racing clutch. The aluminum cover is much lighter and stiffer than the stamped steel cover used on many other clutches. The 7 1/4" diameter gives longer disc life than a 5.5" clutch at the expense of a little rotating inertia. This assembly includes the cover and pressure plate. Clutch disc and bolts are sold separately. Requires specially modified flywheel such as our JAE Flywheel for Formula Ford 1600 (Part No. 163-01-JAE).
The Orange spring is a moderate-strength spring, recommended for cars producing up to 250 lb-ft of torque. We also offer the Tilton OT-2 Clutch with Gray Springs (Part No. 173-15-Gray) for cars up to 310 lb-ft of torque.
Racing clutches require high pedal force to actuate -- external slave cylinder mechanisms may not work with the Orange spring. We recommend the use of a Hydraulic Release Bearing (such as our Part No. 163-55) with this clutch. Cars with external slave cylinders should use the Tilton OT-2 Clutch with Buff Spring (Part No. 163-15-Buff).
