This is the latest style front crankshaft seal for the Ford 1600 Kent engine. It will work with either the stock pulley or our toothed belt pulley. Sold individually.
This "dry" style lip seal (Ford part number 96BM-6700-A6B) was designed to fit the Uprated and Fiesta front covers, which have a retaining flange behind the seal. It will fit early (Cortina) front covers as well. The self-lubricating PTFE construction is specifically designed to avoid tearing or burning on initial start-up. It should be installed dry, with no lubricant on your pulley. This is an excellent choice for your spare engine, which may sit for a few months without being run.
Note: The relaxed ID of this seal is considerably smaller than the sealing OD on the pulley snout. This is by design. The pulley snout is tapered. When you install your pulley using the front bolt to drive the pulley home, the seal will stretch over it. This is very hard to do by hand on the workbench, but trust us (and Ford Motor Company), it works when it's on the engine!
