MS20271 Covered Universal Joint (aka: Helicopter Joints)

These high-quality, heavy-duty universal joints are manufactured to Military Specification MS-20271. Their strong yet compact, thin wall construction allows them to fit into those tight spots commonly found on shift linkages of mid-engine cars.

Each joint is permanently lubricated and covered with a silicone rubber boot to exclude dirt. They are designed for cross-bolting, pinning, or welding to a close fitting shaft or torque tube. (Welding must be done carefully to prevent heat damage.*) Maximum operation angle 30°.

Beware of counterfeits! Pegasus only sells Genuine, Made in the USA, Apex and Belden MS 271 series universal joints - not unreliable foreign knock-offs sold elsewhere. These joints are tested to meet or exceed Mil Spec MIL-J-6193 and MS20271 standards.

Part Numbering Note:
⁃ Our part numbers refer to the Inside Diameter (ID) of the joint sleeve (OD of the linkage rod or tube).
⁃ The MS dash numbers (-B6 through -B24) refer to the Outside Diameter (OD) of the joint sleeve in sixteenths of an inch. For example, the B12 size has a 3/4" OD but a 5/8" ID, so it is our part number 1490-5/8. (This size fits the shift finger on Hewland Mk-series and LD200 gearboxes.)

Stepped sizes are not available. If two different diameter tubes must be joined, a bushing must be added to the smaller one. Sold individually.

*If you plan to weld these joints, you need our Anti-Heat° Heat Sink Compound to protect the joint and boot from welding heat.
