The radical Supermono racing shoe began as a clean-sheet design. Alpinestars started by tossing out many old assumptions about shoe construction in order to provide the ultimate in fit and pedal feel. The latest v2 generation is even lighter and better sculpted for a more natural fit.
One of the first things you notice about the Supermono is the wide, triangular flap across the top. This is the main closure for the shoe, using hook-and-loop fasteners for ease of use and a highly customizable fit. Look closer and you will see that the main part of the upper is one single piece of premium cowhide leather, eliminating seams and overlaps (along with excess weight, bulk, and weak points). Finally, the fire-resistant sock that extends above the ankle. The entire shoe is designed to fit and move like a sock, with minimal restriction.
Perforations on the sides of the Supermono provide cooling ventilation, and the thin rubber sole (developed for F1 drivers) allows excellent pedal feel without sacrificing traction. SFI 3.3/5 approved.
