The GT6 incorporates technologies from the Bell HP7 helmet currently used in Formula 1 and developed with input from Formula 1 drivers. Intended for use in closed-cockpit cars, the genuine carbon fiber shell of the GT6 Carbon has a much wider eyeport and larger chin bar. Two pair of inlet vents in the chin and four outlet slots in the crown allow cooling air to circulate. Snell SA2020 rated and FIA 8859 certified for use with HANS® Devices. Industry-standard M6 female threaded inserts are molded into the shell for easy installation of HANS anchors (sold separately). Available in carbon fiber finish only.
SA2020 is the latest Snell Foundation rating for automotive racing helmets. This helmet rating has been developed to provide the best safety protection for auto racing drivers who are restrained in their vehicles. SA2020 helmets are tested for flame retardance, and additional tests ensure compatibility with HANS® Devices. An SA-rated helmet may not meet DOT specifications for street use, such as on motorcycles.
SIZING: Helmets should fit as snug as possible without causing discomfort. Measure head circumference around the largest part of the head approximately one inch above the eyebrows and just above the ears. If a one or two layer Nomex hood will be worn with the helmet, it should be worn when measuring head circumference. If a hood is not available, add about 1/4 inch to the circumference measurement for a single layer hood and 1/2 inch for a double layer hood.
