Full-Face Auto Racing Helmets, Snell SA2025 Rated

SA2025 is the latest Snell Foundation rating for automotive racing helmets. This helmet rating has been developed to provide the best safety protection for auto racing drivers who are restrained in their vehicles. SA2025 helmets are tested for impact protection and flame retardance, and additional tests ensure that the factory-installed M6 threaded inserts can withstand the loads from a frontal head restraint. An SA-rated helmet may not meet DOT specifications for street use, such as on motorcycles.

The 2025 revision of the SA standard aligns the testing procedures even more closely to the FIA 8859-2024 standard; however, FIA homologation is a separate process. Not all SA2025 helmets are submitted to the FIA for approval. Helmets which are also homologated to the FIA standard are noted below. Most auto racing organizations in the USA accept the Snell standard, and some also accept the FIA standard. Most organizations outside the USA require the FIA standard, and some also accept the Snell standard.

As of January 1 2027, SCCA will require SA2020 or newer helmets.
