Gianpiero Moretti designed his first steering wheel -- a small-diameter wheel with a thick, leather-wrapped grip -- for his own hillclimb racing. In 1964 it caught the attention of John Surtees, who requested a copy for his Ferrari F1 car. That wheel helped Surtees to win the F1 World Championship, and MOMO (Moretti Monza) was born.
