Beta Tools 1718 Series Files, No Handles
The 1718 Series files from Beta Tools are the double-cut style, with diagonal ridges cut in two directions, leaving diamond-shaped teeth. The length listed (6, 8, or 10 inches) is measured without the tang. The 1718 Series does not include handles, but matching handles are available separately.
The "bastard cut" or "rough cut" has the coarsest teeth for quick material removal.
The "second cut" has finer teeth, providing a good compromise between speed and surface finish.
(Note: "Smooth", the finest teeth style, is not available in the 1718 Series. Smooth is only available in the 1719BM Series with handles.)
Deciphering the Beta Tools 1718-Series Hand File Naming System:
Each file in this series has a unique name made up of 4 digits, a single letter, one or two more digits, a slash, and a letter (1718A8/Q, 1718D10/M, 1718A6/T).
1718 = File with no handle (1719BM series includes handles)
D = Bastard Cut, A = Second Cut
6 = 6 Inch, 8 = 8 Inch, 10 = 10 Inch
/Q = Square, /T = Triangular, /P = Flat, /M = Half-round, /R = Round
