Your multiple-carburetor engine will run more smoothly, live longer, and make more power when the carburetors are balanced by synchronizing the opening of the throttle plates. If one carburetor only opens to 3/4 throttle when the next is at full throttle, the engine will be fighting itself and wasting power.
