| Get your fire system ready for hibernation! | ||
For much of the country, the end of October means the end of the racing season. Before you put your racecar to bed for the winter, take a little while to get the fire system ready for off-season storage. If your racecar still has an older AFFF fire suppression system and is stored in an unheated garage, remove the bottle from the car and bring it inside the house for the winter! AFFF solution has a very low freezing point, but it can freeze if the temperature drops low enough. AFFF expands as it freezes, which can cause the bottle to burst. You can avoid damage by preventing the solution from freezing. While you have the bottle out, check the service due date and if necessary, think about ordering a replacement system now so it will be ready for next season.
