Sealed RG (Recombinant Gas) Racing Batteries
These economical batteries are small, light, and very safe. The electrolyte is suspended in fiberglass mats between the battery plates. This allows them to be leak-free in any orientation, even upside-down. The glass mat also stops the electrolyte from leaking out if the outer case is broken. Because the smaller batteries have relatively low cranking amps, we recommend using an auxiliary battery for starting whenever possible, especially in total-loss electrical systems. On the other hand, our Part No. 1171 battery makes a great jumper battery for Formula Ford, FC, and Sports 2000 cars.
Keep your battery charged when not in use for maximum life. Charging at a rate more than 1/10th the battery capacity will shorten its life. For most of these batteries, a 2 amp trickle charger or the 1.5 amp Auto Meter Battery Extender (Part No. AMBEX-1500) is ideal.
