The HANS Device has been proven all over the world (over 100,000 sold and counting) since 1986 to reduce the risk of basal skull fractures and other neck injuries. Many sanctioning bodies currently require the HANS Device and will not accept any other head and neck restraint system. All of the HANS Devices we stock carry both SFI 38.1 certification and FIA 8858 homologation.
SCCA now requires SFI 38.1 or FIA 8858 approved head and neck restraint devices in all wheel-to-wheel racing events. All of the HANS Devices we offer meet these standards.
All HANS Devices include black contour padding, tethers, helmet attachment hardware, and full instructions.
Pro series HANS Devices are constructed of high-modulus carbon fiber for light weight (approximately one pound).
Pro Ultra series HANS Devices are constructed of high-modulus carbon fiber with a lower, rounded backboard for even more weight savings.
Sport II series HANS Devices are constructed of injection-molded super structural carbon fiber with a low, rounded backboard for easier exit from sedans. The Sport II weighs about two pounds (still less than most helmets).
Adjustable series HANS Devices are constructed of injection-molded magnesium alloy with a fire-retardant coating.
The Model 20 HANS Device is designed for most upright applications, including the majority of sedans and sports cars.
The Model 30 HANS Device fits most reclined applications, including formula cars and sports racers. To find the correct starting point, sit in your car and measure the angle of your chest from vertical. If the angle is 25 degrees or less, try the Model 20. If the angle is 25 degrees or more, start with the Model 30.
The Adjustable Series lets you choose your own angle, from 10 to 40 degrees! The angle is so easy to change, you can do it between sessions. Ideal for drivers with more than one car!
